Back in March 2018, the leading emerging technologies & fintech think-tank, Chamber of Digital Commerce (based in Washington DC) published my article on a rarely discussed topic: the interplay between open source licensing & patents.

You can see my complete article entitled “How Does Open Source ‘OS’ Licensing Affect My Ability to Protect My Innovation with Patents?” published in chapter XI of the Chamber’s A Blockchain Innovator’s Guide to IP Strategy, Protecting Innovation & Avoiding Infringement here at page 33.

I discuss the relationship between open source licensing and patent protection and management of the two seemingly opposite fields of intellectual property.

The article continues on to explore how developing a sound IP strategy and seeking patent protection is also important for monetizing open source projects.
